Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum
The mausoleum was built on the southern side of Zhongshan Mountain in honor of Dr. Sun Yat-sen (l866-1925), the great pioneer of the Chinese revolution. Built during 1926 and 1929, the 240 feet tall mausoleum lies 521 feet above sea level. It is composed of a 392-flagstone stairway, a pavilion with a stone tablet under its roof, a memorial hall and Sun Yat-sen's tomb. In the tomb chamber resides a marble statue of Sun Yat-sen in a reclining position; beneath the statue lies his body. The entire layout covers 19.7 acres. It is a state-level scenic spot.

Linggu Temple
The temple is one of the most famous Buddhist temples in China. Its 72-foot tall Hall of Amitayus was constructed without a piece of wood, pillars or beams; hence its name is the Beamless Hall. The temple was built during the Liang Dynasty.

Scenic Belt of the Qinhuai River
The section from Dongshui Pass to Xishui Pass in Nanjing is known as the ten-li Qinhuai. It was a gathering place of businessmen and men of letters in ancient times. Scenic spots and places of historical interest include the Bailu Sandbar, Zhonghua Archway, and Confucian Temple. Traveling on the boat, one can enjoy the natural beauty of divergent rivers and lakes along the banks, as well as performances given by the local people.

Confucian Temple
The temple was built in 1034 to provide the local people with a sacred place to pay tribute to Confucius. Today, the temple area has become a commercial center, where people can enjoy an assortment of local delicacies. Every April through October, the temple area attracts the locals with various activities, such as night fairs, lantern show, performances and demonstrations of arts and crafts. A Lantern Festival is held from the first day through to the 15th day of the first month on the Chinese lunar calendar. During the festival a simulated imperial examination is held in the temple.

The Ming City Walls
They are the best-preserved and longest city walls in China.

The Ming Xiaoling Mausoleum
The Ming Xiaoling Mausoleum is one of the biggest imperial tombs in China. This site houses the graveyard of Zhu Yuanzhang, the founding emperor of the Ming Dynasty, and is situated below Dulongfu Wanzhufeng Peal at the southern foothill of Zijinshan.

Nanjing, known as Jinling in ancient times, is the capital of Jiangsu Province. It is located on the lower reaches of the Yangtze River, surrounded by mountains and rivers, with a humid climate. Nanjing served as the capital for ten dynasties. It covers an area of 2.5 thousand square miles and has 5.06 million residents. A metropolis both ancient and modern, Nanjing has many places of interest, such as the Confucian Temple and the Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum.
