Sun Yat-sen's Memorial Hall
Sun Yat-sen's Memorial Hall is an octagonal structure built with money raised by overseas Chinese and Guangzhou residents in honor of Dr. Sun Yat-sen. It was built in 1931 and was designed by the well-known architect of modern China Lu Yanzhi, who was also The Designer of Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum in Nanjing. The building complex is composed of the arch over the gateway, the auditorium and the some buildings on its east and west sides. The auditorium is octagonal in shape. There are 4,700 seats in the spacious auditorium, encased in the seamless ceiling of the perfectly designed, echo-less room. In front of the auditorium, there stands the statue of Dr. Sun Yat-sen.

The Chen Family Temple
The Chen Family Temple was built with funds raised by the Chen families in 72 counties of Guangdong Province. It is a representation of the traditional architecture of the ancient Guangdong and Guangxi regions. The 100-year-old temple was once the ancestral center in Guangdong in Qing Dynasty. It is now the largest, best preserved and most intricately decorated architecture existing in Guangdong Province. The State Council designated it as an important cultural relic under the State's protection in 1986. The temple has a rectangular structure as its main building and comprises 19 buildings.

The Six-Banyan Monastery
In this monastery there is an ancient pagoda and three huge bronze Buddhist statues, monastery's pagoda is the tallest in the city of Guangzhou. The Six-Banyan is located on Liurong Road and was built in 537 during the Liang Dynasty. While visiting this temple, Su Shi, the great Song Dynasty writer, was attracted by the six banyan trees surrounding it. This temple has since been known as Temple of the Six Banyan Trees. The temple was burned down and rebuilt during the Northern Song Dynasty (960-1127). The Flowery Pagoda, the most prominent structure in this temple, was built in 1097. This pagoda stands 187 feet high in the center of the temple and has a bronze column with 1,000 Buddhist sculptures at the top.

Yuexiu Park
Yuexiu Park, located on the beautiful Yuexiu Mountain, is the largest park in Guangzhou. Yuexiu Park covers an area of 230 acres. Besides a number of artificial lakes and a huge swimming pool, the park is renowned for the Zhenhai Tower and the Sculpture of the Five Rams. The Zhenhai Tower, standing at the top of Yuexiu Hill, is a 91-foot-high five-storied tower. It is also known as the Five-storied Pagoda. It has a commanding bird's-eye view of the entire city. The tower now houses the City Museum, which exhibits the history of Guangzhou from Neolithic times till the early periods of this century.

Mt. Dinghu
Located eighty-six kilometers east of Guangzhou, Mt. Dinghu is a state-level natural reserve with 2,000 species of rare plants.

Guangzhou, the capital of Guangdong Province, is set along the coast of the South China Sea. Guangzhou covers approximately 2,900 square miles and has a population of 6.6 million people. It is a city famous for its history, as well as its being a port city for foreign trade, and the largest industrial and commercial city in southern China.

Guangzhou has a humid climate, flowers bloom there all year round and it is therefore also know as the "City of Flowers."

There are as many as 150 historical sites in addition to the many modern facilities for recreation in Guangzhou. The city is also famous for embroidery, local opera, and food. Guangzhou also has a convenient transportation system. The Beijing-Guangzhou and the Beijing-Kowloon (Hong Kong) railways, airlines, and water transportation provide easy access to all parts of the country and the world.
